The College of Teacher Education at Ningbo University is a discipline-based college dedicated to teacher talent cultivation and research in educational and psychological sciences. Its predecessor can be traced back to Ningbo Normal School, founded in 1958. In 2008, the College of Teacher Education was established at Ningbo University on the basis of the former College of Education. In the new era, the college adheres to the motto of "Virtue and Perseverance, Erudition and Teaching Skill", and the educational philosophy of "Quality Improvement, Pursuit of Excellence, Teacher-Training Characteristics, and Coordinated Development", comprehensively promoting the brand building of educational disciplines and the cultivation of teacher-training professionals.

The college currently employs 127 full-time teachers, among whom 92 hold doctoral degrees. Over 20 of them are talents at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including young talents of the National Major Talent Project, experts receiving special government allowances from the State Council, members of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education for Higher Education Institutions, leaders and young talents of the Zhejiang Provincial Key Talent Project, Qianjiang Scholars, Chief Experts of the Ma Project, Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished Teachers, Zhedong Scholars, Zhijiang Young Talents, Provincial 151 Talent Cultivation Objects, young discipline leaders in provincial universities, and excellent teachers in provincial universities.

The college comprises four departments and nine institutes. The four departments are: Department of Primary Education, Department of Preschool Education, Department of Psychology, and Department of Teacher Education. The major in Primary Education is a "Thirteenth Five-Year" advantageous and characteristic major in Zhejiang Province, and was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2019. The major in Preschool Education is a first-class undergraduate major in Zhejiang Province and an advantageous major in Ningbo universities, and was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2021. The major in Applied Psychology is a first-class undergraduate major in Zhejiang Province and a characteristic major in Ningbo universities, and was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2021. In the 2025 soft science ranking of Chinese university majors, the major in Primary Education ranked seventh among 163 majors nationwide, entering the top 4.29%; the major in Preschool Education made significant progress, jumping from the 20th place in 2024 to the 14th place, entering the top 6.39%; the major in Applied Psychology continued to maintain a stable development trend, firmly ranking in the top 15% nationwide, demonstrating the steady improvement of the college's professional construction. The nine institutes are: Institute of Curriculum and Instruction, Institute of Basic Theories of Education, Institute of Higher Education, Institute of Preschool Education, Institute of Educational Leadership and Management, Institute of Educational Informatization, Institute of Psychology, Institute of Applied Psychology, and Institute of Mental Health. The college has two first-level master's degree programs in education and psychology, two professional master's degree programs in education master's and applied psychology, and was approved to offer a doctoral degree program in education in 2024. The college has successfully established a three-level training system of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Education is a "Thirteenth Five-Year" first-class discipline in Zhejiang Province, and psychology is a key discipline in Ningbo.

The college has achieved fruitful results in teaching, scientific research, and social services. In 2014, it won one first prize and one second prize for national teaching achievements; it also received nine awards for outstanding achievements in scientific research in higher education institutions from the Ministry of Education in the seventh, eighth, and ninth editions, including three second prizes and six third prizes (including one youth award); it won one third prize for outstanding achievements in national educational science in the fifth edition; it received two awards for outstanding achievements in national educational science research in the sixth edition, including one first prize (breaking Ningbo University's zero record for this award) and one second prize; in the past five years, it has won nine awards for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Zhejiang Province, including six second prizes and three youth achievement awards. In 2023, it was approved to undertake a major key project of philosophy and social science research funded by the Ministry of Education, achieving our university's zero breakthrough in this project! In 2024, it was approved to undertake one project in the National Library of Philosophy and Social Science Achievements. Over the past five years, the college has been approved for 27 national-level scientific research projects and 38 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects; it has published more than 100 papers in SSCI journals and 178 papers in CSSCI journals, including 18 papers in "Educational Research" and "Acta Psychologica Sinica". The college actively participates in social services, formulating medium- and long-term plans for the development of basic education in Ningbo, participating in legislative research on preschool education in Ningbo, and playing a good role as a think tank.

The college attaches great importance to the quality of undergraduate and graduate education, with a particular focus on cultivating students' abilities. It fosters a conducive environment for student growth, and its students have consistently achieved excellent results in national and provincial academic competitions. The employment rate and the rate of passing the civil servant examination have reached new highs.

The college will continue to unite its efforts and forge ahead with determination, responding to the requirements of the new era for the development of educational disciplines and the cultivation of teacher talents, and striving to build a distinctive and influential first-class teaching and research college in China.
